Dear Logbook, eighteenth day of the first trip.
Dear Logbook, eighteenth day of the first trip.
Well, yesterday the land crew came to extract my blood, that famous precious red liquid from my past notes. The woman who came asked me to speak Spanish instead of speaking a foreign language, which I agreed with pleasure because in that way she improves her Spanish and for me it is simpler. As I said, they not only come to do the extraction, which really is the main objective of their visit, but it is also a moment of dialogue in which we talk about many things. Is it called therapy?
Once she had left, here people call this type of crew “Sjuksköterska”, I proceeded to go for a walk – on Monday I walked 9.7 km, on Tuesday, 10.5 km and this time, about 8 km. I had to walk at an agile pace because the sky was threatening rain, as in the end it happened. In fact, it will dawn soon and it is still raining. After the walk, I had lunch and ran errands.
In the afternoon, I could see that we already had provisional results obtained from that extraction in the morning and everything seemed to show that the values of the defense indicators had risen quite a lot. The use of diet and exercise, together with the G-CSF injections I told you about last week lead me to believe that I will most surely receive the tickets tomorrow morning, allowing me to start the second trip on Monday. Tomorrow, Friday, the ship captain will tell me.
Later, at night, it was time to prepare the meal. I wanted to have dinner “Garlic Soup.” So I made garlic soup. It is said that they are good when cold weather comes, in addition to being very good and complete to face all kinds of crossings.
The night was like yesterday’s. Sleeping about 5 hours, a stop for a while with my “friend” insomnia and another time of sleep.
It is dawning now and it continues raining. After I had left Gadea at the sailors’ school, I waited for a carriage to take me to the Ship. This time, due to my concern about my weight and diet lately, the ship’s crew decided that the best thing was to control both of them. Surely when I show them and tell what I eat and how my weight is doing, we will all be calm. Thanks to Laura, a friend who helps us with this from the distance through these “digital” means, we are in good condition of energy, weight and, in the background, of encouragement. We will see what the ship nutrition captain thinks.
Then, when I walk on the mainland, since it is not raining heavily, I will walk back home. It will be 7-8 km through different streets and places. I think I will treat myself to something to eat.
In the afternoon, we will return to the usual routines, waiting impatiently to hear what the ship captain will say tomorrow and looking forward to receiving those tickets to set sail on that new trip on 7th. This trip will be less new than the first one. But I will face it with the same or more enthusiasm than the previous one. Liquids are taking effect and that is basically what is expected. A sample of the effect is that I have a plumper face and in the mornings I can see remnants of my autumn fall of “leaves” on my pillow. Both things are passing, but they are usual when one is receiving liquids or chemotherapy, as it is called.
Dairy, I think for today I will not tell you anything else. Thank you for being with me on this exciting voyage of my life.
